Just A Feeling

current favorite song.

Because Payphone is too mainstream and Just a feeling is so underrated :p

she cries, “This is more than goodbye. When I look into your eyes, you’re not even there”

Adam Levine’s voice…. UGH. Makes me wanna surgically remove my tear ducts :'(((( and the song is just TOO SAD :(
Thank you Anne V for breaking his heart, inspiring him to create songs like this.. :p

But it was love and it’s an ache I still remember

If you sang while reading my title, then I guess you know the song “Somebody That I Used To Know” by Gotye feat. Kimbra :)

That song pretty much sums up my life (love life if you wanna call it like that) right about now. Will tone down a little bit on the fashion hype on this blog.  I think I am in the mood to get mellow just for tonight. (Eeeeeek did I sound uber cheesy??)

Anyway, it’s finally a month (or more) since I ended up a relationship I thought that would last. UGH. I sounded cheesy again HAHA but I couldn’t think of  how else to say it :p

This time though, I guess it’s more than goodbye. I know my friends won’t believe this (even until now) because they’ve been used to the on-off relationship I had with this guy. And since it was long distance, they would assume that everything would be okay once we see each other again. At least that was before. Right now, turning back or insisting to stay would only mean no light at the end of the tunnel. eff Gotye. You are so damn right.

You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness.

Maybe……. it’s true what they say.. Some people just wake up one day and all their feelings for someone are suddenly gone. I wouldn’t call it “falling out of love” it’s not like that..  The love is still there.. kind of.. It’s just that, it’s not the same anymore. As Adam Levine would put it in his song,

I know it’s hard to remember the people we used to be.
It’s even harder to picture, that you’re not here next to me.

I suddenly remember this..

Only, I WAS 16 when I was planning about “someday.” ;)

Oh by the way, for those of you who don’t know, Nathan Scott is the writer of the famous tv series, One Tree Hill.

After a month, I’ve only talked about this tonight and 3 of my friends. Also, I stumbled upon this perfect photo on Tumblr:

(sorry I couldn’t give credits :( there was nothing indicated. but whoever made this, I’m sorry I had to use your photo without your permission.)

CLOSURE maybe that’s all I need. But since “you” have finally decided to put me behind without even saying goodbye, then I guess there’s nothing more I could do about that.

Then it got me thinking again.. what if……

Then that person you know becomes that person you KNEW.
That’s how it usually goes, right?

I painfully admit…….

Loneliness stealthily creeps in whenever I see a couple from a distance hugging and holding each other. That’s when I look to my left shoulder and wish your presence was here but there was nothing. It’s the comfort that I look for that’s making me wanting to be in a relationship. Comfort, to be comfortable around that one person. I guess I will have to wait.

DiY Shorts part deux

Remember this photo? :) yes.. My DiY distressed shorts that I blogged about here:  http://sugarcoatedscribbles.wordpress.com/2012/01/31/do-it-yourself-distressed-shorts-tutorial-by-nica-ubas/

SOOOOOOOOOO… I kind of got bored with it and thought that I have too many ripped shorts. So what I did was……

I cut off my polo’s sleeves since a.) I couldn’t wear it coz it’s TOO LARGE (and I just thrifted it anyway)
b.) I gave it to my mom as my pre-Mother’s Day gift ;)

I had the sleeves sewn on the ripped parts to
a.) simply cover up the rips
b.) to create a more vintage-y look on the shorts

By the way, I wasn’t the one who sewed it.. I had it done at our family’s tailor. She does really exemplary job on sewing. She was also the one who made my mustard shorts and cropped polo

Please look out for my new lookbook post ;)

Let’s “be hip”

Being a girl who is on her 20s and tries to experiment with fashion and still trying to figure herself out is something I would likely to describe myself.  But when people ask me about my “fashion statement” or my “fashion inspiration/s,” I would mostly end up answering “anything goes” or “I don’t particularly follow any trends.. I create my own..” –that sort of hypocrisy. At least, for the past years that’s what I’ve been telling people.

Just late last year, I’ve finally decided to actually fall into a specific kind of “fashion culture.” Actually, I’m not only talking about fashion here. I’m talking about the personal style that I’m adopting and why I’m taken to it.

I follow/read a lot of blogs.. no certain genre.. and the words “indie” and “hipster” have always caught my attention. So I did my research and found myself deleting my Flo Rida, Rihanna, Chris Brown, etc. playlists in exchange for Bon Iver, Lykke Li, Feist, She & Him, Radiohead, Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey, Florence + the Machine, and other indie bands.

hip·ster (hpstr)
n. Slang
Hipster (also referred to as scenesters[1]) is a term frequently used to refer to a subculture of young, recently settled urban middle class adults and older teenagers. Usage of the term reappeared in the 1990s and persists to the present. The subculture is associated with independent music, a varied non-mainstream fashion sensibility, and alternative lifestyles.

In the 1990’s, the hipster term came back strong in communities of young, middle-class urbanities. The dress was usual a causal mixture of grunge, jeans and tee-shirts that promoted Indie bands.

Naturally, wanting to “be hip” falls foul of the irony that no hipster would own up to. Being a hipster isn’t something you consciously strive for. It’s supposed to be a natural state, not something contrived.

But then again…. everytime we make deliberate choices about the image we present to the world, we’re working on it, even subconsciously. So I started with the indie music.. then everything followed. On this post, I will allow you guys to take a peek of my closet. No, I am not showing my whole wardrobe, just a couple of basic hippie clothes that I own.

Note: Hipster fashion is not easy to copy. Self-identity is heavily tied into what being a hipster is all about, however you will seldom find a hipster who accepts this title readily.

TOPS: bodycons, corsets, cropped, bodysuits, & vintage tees.

Hipster trends tend to change quickly, and when that trend is copied by others those in this life-style find new ways to express themselves.

BOTTOMS: vintage, ripped, high-waist, tattered

More than one type of hipster exists with a different lifestyles and clothing choices.

Basically, hipsterism is a style that defines all that you feel matters right now. Which goes back to my definition of style, “anything goes!” HAHA

Bottomline is, Hipsters are those people in the world who start movements in fashion and policy without commercialism. In short, the hipster is a title that the world assigns to the people in our society who are brave enough to do their own thing, without concern for what the rest of us think.

So find your thing… find that thing that you love and do it for the rest of your life. :)

Young Blood

I am finally back after a month’s hiatus! I apologize for being such an irresponsible, neglecting “blogger” I promise to try my best to make it up to you on this post.

So.. long story short, I was in Cebu for a month to attend some important stuff at the same time “vacationing” for summer. I am just going to summarize the highlighted events of my vacay and I will try to make separate posts of it. For now, I’m just gonna share a couple of photos.

The main reason why I went to Cebu is to process my transcript of records because I am going to transfer to another school to finish my nursing course. Yup! I am finally and fully decided. I need a diploma already to get on with life.

then…….. I was there to attend the hunger games’ premiere :) I was super excited, I’ve spammed my fb and twitter about it for two weeks. HAHA

While I was on the plane, I was surprised to find a magazine that featured THG! HAHA well it was mainly about Jennifer Lawrence and her role as Katniss Everdeen.. but whatever.. still THG related HAHA

the night on that day, we attended the last full show and wore our customized shirts :) On the right is my cousin, Bea and that Team Peeta shirt of hers glowed inside the cinema. She used that special glow in the dark glue for tees. Forgive us, that was the only fan mode day we had. HAHA

We occupied the whole “L” row and we were as usual the noisiest. The people behind us must have been very annoyed HAHAHA We got the best seats because we, well, my awesome cousin Kyle reserved it a month before. :)

The next day, I met up with my lovie Essa and a couple of my CDU friends to watch Anne Curtis-Smith’s No Other Concert at Waterfront. I’m sorry I couldn’t give you teaser pics. My brilliant mind forgot to bring my cousin’s DSLR and my point-and-shoot camera has no memory card. Genius, I know. *facepalm* All I had was my cybershot phone and it was no hope.  And that ticket photo isn’t mine either. HAHA grabbed it from Essa’s twitter.
The after party was spent in Alchology with my cousins (sorry!the photos are kind of private :D)

On April Fool’s Day, my cousin had visitors from MNL and we gladly took them for some kilid-kilid shots at Streetlow then to Mountain View.
(L-R: Hydra, LA. Shobe, and my cousin Kyle)

Those are the only “decent” pics I could find. Everything was either blurred (from playing German game and laughing too much) or too dark (because we couldn’t we figure out the SLR’s freaking flash and we’re having too much fun to experiment)

Then came the Holy Week. My cousins and I had an impromptu decision to go to the beach at 2 in the afternoon. HAHA It was so hot in the house and we were so bored and we just needed some sun, sand, and  the ocean.

We even brought home a pet jelly fish! But it died without even a name :( huhu

Biyernes Santo is family day :) Visita Iglesia to seven churches and then lunch at Co Jordan.

We finished the 14 stations of the cross, had seafood for lunch, and the place was just so peaceful. it was a very holy day :)

Friday the 13th salubong. Beer pong with the wolfpack :) Girls vs. Boys

Friday the 13th nightout with the Wolfpack.

This was actually my last nighout beforee heading back to Mindanao :)

Mid April, I attended my cousin and lovie’s graduation! yaaay! :) Well, I wasn’t actually on the graduation ceremony because it was 7 in the morning and I was still sleeping. Went to their pinning which was held in the afternoon (that’s justifying their gala uniforms haha in case you’re wondering why they aren’t wearing togas)

That’s the last important event in my summer. My remaining days in Cebu were spent on satisfying cravings, playing scrabble or rummi with family, and then packing – loads of it. Sorted things that are to be shifted back home and stuff that I will include in my new room (yes I’m moving!!)

When I get back on May, it will be a  whole new life. and when I say new, that includes EVERYTHING. Heartaches and heartbreaks left behind, mistakes were laughed at but will not be forgotten, old friends remain but ready to make new ones, and I guess it’s safe to say that I’m closer to where I’m supposed to be than yesterday.

Sears

Since I am a big The Hunger Games Trilogy fan and the movie is about to come out in 15 days, I made my own THG shirt instead of ordering online. I mean some people sell cheap customized THG shirts but the shipping fee makes it expensive. Why spend a lot of dough when you can make your own customized tee?

It’s quite simple. Since I have an extra plain white tee, I cut out letters from an unused polo.

After cutting out the letters, I pinned it on the shirt so it’d be easy. It was hand sewn by the way since I was too afraid to use our sewing machine HAHA! I owe my basic sewing skills to my home economics teachers! HAHAHA

I’ve always been Team Gale. Although I was quite disappointed that Liam Hemsworth’s portraying him. I mean, he was described as “good-looking, strong enough to handle work, and can hunt” but I guess we just have to wait and see. I know he’s a good actor. And ohhh.. I had to post those two similar photos because I can’t decide which filter is nicer ;)

By the way, you can hype this look here.

And since I’ve already started it, I decided to “re-construct” my tees because butterfly sleeves make my arms look bigger ;) all I had to do is to cut the sleeves.

And I even made a cropped top! ;)

I can actually join KFC’s “street-wise” contest HAHA! :)
