Young Blood

I am finally back after a month’s hiatus! I apologize for being such an irresponsible, neglecting “blogger” I promise to try my best to make it up to you on this post.

So.. long story short, I was in Cebu for a month to attend some important stuff at the same time “vacationing” for summer. I am just going to summarize the highlighted events of my vacay and I will try to make separate posts of it. For now, I’m just gonna share a couple of photos.

The main reason why I went to Cebu is to process my transcript of records because I am going to transfer to another school to finish my nursing course. Yup! I am finally and fully decided. I need a diploma already to get on with life.

then…….. I was there to attend the hunger games’ premiere πŸ™‚ I was super excited, I’ve spammed my fb and twitter about it for two weeks. HAHA

While I was on the plane, I was surprised to find a magazine that featured THG! HAHA well it was mainly about Jennifer Lawrence and her role as Katniss Everdeen.. but whatever.. still THG related HAHA

the night on that day, we attended the last full show and wore our customized shirts πŸ™‚ On the right is my cousin, Bea and that Team Peeta shirt of hers glowed inside the cinema. She used that special glow in the dark glue for tees. Forgive us, that was the only fan mode day we had. HAHA

We occupied the whole “L” row and we were as usual the noisiest. The people behind us must have been very annoyed HAHAHA We got the best seats because we, well, my awesome cousin Kyle reserved it a month before. πŸ™‚

The next day, I met up with my lovie Essa and a couple of my CDU friends to watch Anne Curtis-Smith’s No Other Concert at Waterfront. I’m sorry I couldn’t give you teaser pics. My brilliant mind forgot to bring my cousin’s DSLR and my point-and-shoot camera has no memory card. Genius, I know. *facepalm* All I had was my cybershot phone and it was no hope. Β And that ticket photo isn’t mine either. HAHA grabbed it from Essa’s twitter.
The after party was spent in Alchology with my cousins (sorry!the photos are kind of private :D)

On April Fool’s Day, my cousin had visitors from MNL and we gladly took them for some kilid-kilid shots at Streetlow then to Mountain View.
(L-R: Hydra, LA. Shobe, and my cousin Kyle)

Those are the only “decent” pics I could find. Everything was either blurred (from playing German game and laughing too much) or too dark (because we couldn’t we figure out the SLR’s freaking flash and we’re having too much fun to experiment)

Then came the Holy Week. My cousins and I had anΒ impromptuΒ decision to go to the beach at 2 in the afternoon. HAHA It was so hot in the house and we were so bored and we just needed some sun, sand, and Β the ocean.

We even brought home a pet jelly fish! But it died without even a name 😦 huhu

Biyernes Santo is family day πŸ™‚ Visita Iglesia to seven churches and then lunch at Co Jordan.

We finished the 14 stations of the cross, had seafood for lunch, and the place was just so peaceful. it was a very holy day πŸ™‚

Friday the 13th salubong. Beer pong with the wolfpack πŸ™‚ Girls vs. Boys

Friday the 13th nightout with the Wolfpack.Β

This was actually my last nighout beforee heading back to Mindanao πŸ™‚

Mid April, I attended my cousin and lovie’s graduation! yaaay! πŸ™‚ Well, I wasn’t actually on the graduation ceremony because it was 7 in the morning and I was still sleeping. Went to their pinning which was held in the afternoon (that’s justifying their gala uniforms haha in case you’re wondering why they aren’t wearing togas)

Β That’s the last important event in my summer.Β My remaining days in Cebu were spent on satisfying cravings, playing scrabble or rummi with family, and then packing – loads of it.Β Sorted things that are to be shifted back home and stuff that I will include in my new room (yes I’m moving!!)

When I get back on May, it will be a Β whole new life. and when I say new, that includes EVERYTHING. Heartaches and heartbreaks left behind, mistakes were laughed at but will not be forgotten, old friends remain but ready to make new ones, and I guess it’s safe to say that I’m closer to where I’m supposed to be than yesterday.

It’s not everyday I turn twenty!

This is it. I am really doing my 20th birthday post. Weeks before, I had this birthday wishlist uploaded on my facebook and twitter. Let’s see how much love I got on my tweenTEENth natal day πŸ˜‰

2 hours before the clock strikes to midnight, I got a text from my photographer friend, THE insensible anthropoid, Mary Fel (right). She told me that she’s in Bo’s raintree doing her case study and that I can maybe drop by to say hi. 2 of my CDU friends were there too, Aiken (left) and Alexa (middle).
So I went there with my cousin Bea only for a while because the Wolfpack decided to do a countdown while playing scrabble or charades πŸ™‚
I sat down w/ them for 30 minutes then my co-wolf Christine who’s in the neighborhood came to pick Bea and me.

Surprise! Surprise!

I got mini cakes and cake pops from my friend Ethel who is currently taking baking classes. (Christine got this  while I was in Bo’s)

My cousins and I happily tasted all the goodies then we played our own version of Pinoy Henyo. It’s a game where the person next to you sticks a paper on your forehead and you have to guess what’s written on it.

Moments later, all the lights went out and I was panicking until my cousin Bea came out of the kitchen holding cupcakes with a number 2 candle and a cut-out 0 haha πŸ˜‰

It was a happy, happy night! πŸ™‚ We went on with a few rounds of the game and had a few drinks then went to bed.

When I woke up the next day…..

I found this package from my mom at the foot of my bed. She just came home from her Singapore vacation. I got really excited when I saw the box so I opened it anxiously, I didn’t even bother to wash my face haha.

Will make a separate post on what’s inside these loveys πŸ˜‰

My mom attached a letter to her gift and made me bawl alone in the room.

Included inside the parcel is this MAC lippie! I will make a separate post about my reviews on this one also πŸ™‚

After getting hyped with all the lovely stuff from mama, I just went back to bed and spent an afternoon wearing my jammies, watching Game Of Thrones on HBO. They had a marathon so my cousins and I lost track of time. We were supposed to be at the airport before 4pm because my cousin Alina is going to arrive from Vienna Austria.

Time went really fast! I had dinner with family and after, we went out to chill. The apartment was really scorching so we decided to catch up on some stories outside before my party begins.

Long and behold! My G6 lovies came putting me on surprise number 3.

Apparently, somebody sent me a cake through them. People kept on arriving and I was overwhelmed by how unpredictable my 20th birthday turned out to be.

That’s me in house clothes and sweating profusely…

G6 minus 2. I love you girls! And to the person who sent the cake, thank you!

I thought the surprises were over. Guess I was wrong. I got another batch of cute cupcakes from my cousin Bea ❀

Was reminded by my own calendar that it’s my birthday HAHA.

LERIAS coven ❀

WOLPACK in complete  attendance before the party started.

That’s 2 hours later. HAHAHA! our supposed formal pic.

Several moments later.. HAHA! πŸ™‚

Inside the NYX box are 2 mineral based lippies from my girl, Garey.

LOVE it! You don’t even need to apply lipgloss for top coat and it lasts long.

This dream catcher is hand made by Master Wolf himself, @kumoto
YAY! No more nightmares for me.

I may not have all the money in the world and buy the things that I want but when I look at my family and friends, I realize I have more than enough. And that makes me rich :’)

Because most girls wish to have a brother

I’m glad that I have mine! πŸ™‚

Today was my flight from Cebu to Pagadian (my hometown) and my mom and I weren’t really expecting for my brother to be home until the 20th.
Turns out he wanted to surprise us by arriving a day before we do.

Having a 9yr gap with a sibling is hard because one of you gets really matured and your priorities change as you grow old. And now that he’s already settled in Manila with his lovely girlfriend, we seldom see each other anymore. Not unless I visit him during term breaks. He’s never visited me in Cebu :p

Anyway, I can never tell you when exactly was the last time we fought. or have really fought? haha He knows me very well and even spoils me more than my parents. He’s more protective compared to my dad.

So! surprise number 2. He leaves a bohemian bag on my bed…

..and makes up for the missed parties and birthdays and gatherings
Of course family is still the only treasure that we can’t buy. But like I said, he likes to spoil me πŸ˜‰

I love you brothaaaaaa!! I know you can’t read this because you’re too cool to read blogs you’d rather listen to Chester covering Rolling in the Deep. But who knows? you might be able to consider reading my blog and you’d know how much of a cheeseball I am. HAHA ❀

Mother Knows BESTβœ“

How do you guys get up from an ALL-TIME LOW?
Me? I have an amazing support system. My mother pushes me upward from the ground :’)
I wish I could screencap all her quotable quotes but my other phone is obsolete, I just have to copy my favorite advices I got from her β™₯

β€œBe patient with yourself. Falling at times does not mean you are a failure. It means you don’t do everything right ALL THE TIME.”

β€œThat’s life. It is not how many times you’ve fallen darling but how many times you rise up after each fall.”
β€” I know this is clichΓ© but it’s different when it’s YOUR MOM telling you this.βœ“

β€œTake your time. One day at a time. Let go and let God.”
β€” have you guys read Mitch Albom‘s β€œFor One More Day”? I get the same feeling and goosebumps every time I hear her say this or read her sms

β€œLife offers you a second chance. It’s called β€” TOMORROW.”

I wish my blog is enough to share how amazing my mom is but every time I type another quote, it’s so hard to contain myself from crying. So I have to say adieu and take a deep sleep for my last day at the Psych ward (for this week!). I wish I could say I’m ecstatic but yeah.. I’m ok :’)

χσχσ

Hi mama! I miss you! I know you’re reading this :*
Shoutout to my best friend Ninez Hernendez for constantly plugging my blog :*
And one love to my visitors! β™₯
P.S. On the brighter side, I’m going to DUMAGUETE on Holy Week baybeeeh!!!!! ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ now I can say I’m beyond psyched and ecstatic!

Who’s That Girl: Red Riding Hood..?

Last night, I had a random moment with cousins. Yes, it was a miracle that i decided to stay in on a friday night. I’ve been so stressed with school for the past few weeks and all I wanna do with my free time is to sleep.

So just as when I was under my sheets (as early as 8pm), ate Nikko invited me and my cousin, Bea to watch the Anne-Luis movie “Who’s That Girl” since Giann and Paulo are watching Los Angeles… whatever-title-that-movie-has.

Who’s That Girl Number 1 πŸ™‚

Who’s That Girl Number 2 πŸ™‚

It was SOOOO funny when we arrived at the movie house. First, there was NO Who’s That Girl showing at all so we decided to watch Red Riding Hood (we hesitated because it’s 30% on rotten tomatoes but we aren’t really movie critics so we watched anyway). We were thinking our movie’s gonna be at 10:25 pm not knowing we’re looking at the wrong screen. I couldn’t make out the words and numbers either since I wasn’t wearing glasses or contacts. Good thing we finally figured out that the movie was at 9:25 and it’s gonna be the last full show. We literally ran as fast as our feet could at the same time laughing at our own mistake. HAHA

The movie was okay by the way. I was screaming the whole time although it’s a bit dragging. Okay I’m not spoiling you guys so I aint talking no more :DD (just this one bit: SHILOH FERNANDEZ, the guy who played Peter in the movie was REALLY REALLY smokin HOT. I melted on my seat).

Nothing else special happened to me lately except that next week’s finally our FINALS (our school sucks when it comes to giving students day offs) and on Monday, we’re gonna have our Grand Case Presentation which is why I’m as busy as the Grand Central Station.

Goodbye for now! I have one night to get my much awaited 12hr-sleep πŸ™‚ i can’t wait to be on dreamland I could almost taste it. HAHA!

Night lovies.

xoxo,

NICA

P.S. don’t forget to check lookbook.nu/nicuh for my new looks! πŸ™‚

Embracing Discipline :)

Hi everyone! Ψͺ It’s 2 am and I wish that I was sleeping. You’re in my head like a song on the radio ♬ ♬
Haha! I’m kidding! This is my first post using my wordpress app on my phone. I am so happy that I can blog anytime, anywhere!

So yeah, this is gonna be really random because (a) I’m in the middle of my Myasthenia Gravis digestion [in my brain] haha (b) it’s already 2am and I’ve got a nursing care seminar later at 8. I don’t like it when I don’t get my 8hr-sleep 😦
(c) I have a headache that can absolutely detach my brain from my skull [which I had since yesterday] and (d) I’ve had enough caffeine to make me really exaggerated in euphoria.

Thanks to my cousin, Kyle for bringing Caramel frap for me! β™₯
We had my favorite hazelnut Loacker go with it ツ

I’m gonna be really busy this weekend because of my proposal hearing this Monday. So no SERIOUS blogging for me yet. My looks are even delayed for lookbook! Well, I can’t wait til I can sit infront of my lappy and do my pending posts.
For now I’m just gonna enjoy wordpress on my phone.Ψͺ

I have to say adieu now!
Don’t forget to be awesome!
Good night!

χσχσ,
NICA β™₯β™‘

Embracing Awesomeness!

So I woke up and..

found out that Bianca Gonzales read my blog! and she replied! πŸ˜€
I had to read it thrice to actually digest everything HAHA.
So I just stayed at home (like good girls do!) and yes, on a SATURDAY.
But I don’t mind anyway. Today is the day to finally see the outcome of yesterday’s randomness (if you’ve read my previous post you will understand.)

Before I stepped on the shower..

I had to say goodbye to my Bianca G. look haha! πŸ™‚

TADAHHH! πŸ™‚
My post shower look. Mission accomplished? πŸ˜‰
Thanks to Bench Fix. I really trust you guys!
Also, before I go out to run some errands, I wanna share with you guys what made my day (as if Bianca’s comment was not enough. HAHA)

My Auntie Nancy commended me about my blog.β™₯ β™₯
I love my family! πŸ™‚ and I’m glad I made them proud too. I’m starting to get serious about this whole blogging thing haha.

Okay bye now! Going to the tailor for future surprise πŸ˜‰

DFTBA! β™₯ [Don’t Forget To Be Awesome]

Love lots,
NICA :*

FLYDAY

“Like evolution, in nation-building, we come into our own identity. But we never stop trying to improve. We never ‘arrive’. Just move forward.”

It’s Friday and every major event leaves people talking about it for decades, maybe even centuries. EDSA may be one such event. Yep, today, February 25, 2011 is a holiday and every Filipino remembers what has happened decades ago. I wasn’t born during EDSA so I’m not actually one of those who are sentimental today but I try to gather details for the love of my country πŸ˜‰
After all, geography is not the only requirement to be Filipino. Agree?

So as a free bird on a flyday, I went to Bench Fix Salon to get a haircut. My cousin, Kyle was generous enough to offer himself to go with me. Since I have a wavy hair and I’m actually tired to iron or blow dry it, I made specific instructions to the stylist that I want my idol, Saab Magalona‘s hair. I am taking a break from all the straighteners because I’m still gonna have it bun everyday due to my course. Right now, I just want my waves to fall into place.

This is my idol, blogger queen, Saab Magalona holding her high school picture. This photo came from her blog.
Yep, she used to rebond her hair back then too but now happy with her wavy locks πŸ™‚ isn’t she lovely?
(visit her blog by clicking her name. I have it linked on my blogroll too for easy access)

Viola! πŸ™‚

My hair is straight because they blow dried it. After I shower again we’ll see the outcome! πŸ™‚

So maybe Bianca Gonzalez nalang for today? HAHA

We went to Starbucks after to use the February coupon. If you have the 2011 planner, you should use it too! It expires on the 28th.

Nam nam πŸ™‚ first time to try iced caramel macchiato with jelly. Been loyal to caramel frap ever since!

Bought a couple of stuff too.

Finally!! I got a copy of the first book on The Hunger Games trilogy.

Been dying to read this for quite some time now. I have the UK version of the cover. I can’t wait to start reading this.

So happy that I was productive today πŸ™‚
That’s all for now.

P.S. ANTM Cycle 16’s just started πŸ™‚

Other things may change us..

..BUT WE START AND END UP WITH FAMILY πŸ™‚

I belong in such a small clan (which consists of my Grandparents, Papalo & Mamala, 2 immediate aunts and my mom plus one uncle and then a total of 8 grand children). We may be few but AN OUNCE OF BLOOD iS STiLL WORTH MORE THAN A POUND OF FRiENDSHiP.

The Cabanlit family picture above is during my Papalo’s 80th birthday last February 5, 2011.
As you can see, the 3rd gen kids are only 5. That’s because the three muskeeters are in Chicago with my Tita Chin fighting through winter.

That’s them πŸ™‚
And you may also notice that among the grandchildren, there are only two girls. That would be me and Nicole πŸ™‚

And when these two came, we couldn’t be any happier! πŸ™‚
First twins in the family, Andre and Adrian. They live in Bradford (London, England) since their parents work there. One thing about them is that they are so lovable (And they hug A LOT!)

THE PRINCESSES AND PRINCES πŸ™‚

GOOD TIMES.

And tonight, as they go back to UK, I spent the whole day baby sitting them and became one of the boys.
Pardon my very swollen eyes. I didn’t get much sleep because I was on a pm shift last night πŸ™‚
So we had breakfast at the hotel.. they’re not wearing the same clothes! this is a first πŸ™‚ Andre is wearing stripes while Adrian is wearing gray.

We went back inside the hotel room where I had the sweetest conversations with them plus French lessons! πŸ™‚

Adrian lying on my lap after taking a bath πŸ™‚

More photos πŸ™‚

Finally both are done with shower so we went downstairs to Robinson’s with my aunt and uncle for shopping πŸ™‚ then stayed at Bo’s coffee shop for fraps.
(I’ve always liked their mocha frap than Starbucks’ but then, place doesn’t really matter for me as long as I have my coffee * wink!)

Just before lunch, my cousins and I were at the lobby and I was in awe when we had this conversation. No, not because of their British accent (although I had to ask them to speak slowly so that I could understand haha)..

Andre: Will you miss us?

Me: Of course.

Andre: Why?

Me: Because we’re cousins and you’re living far away.

Adrian: You can always come to Bradford with us

Me: It’s not that easy. But I will soon.

Andre: Why will you miss me?

Me: I told you already.

Andre: say it again

Me: Because we’re cousins

Andre: and our mummies are sisters.

Me: yep and you will eventually forget me.

Andre: No. I won’t forget you. I have my mind with all the names in it. And your face. I will always remember you. I will miss you too!

And I just hugged them really tight and tried not to get too emotional. These kids are too good to be true! :’)

They are now boarding for Doha and need to ride two more airplanes to be in Bradford.

I didn’t mind getting no sleep at all. A day spent with family is always a day well spent.

Bye for now. Dinner is served! πŸ™‚

P.S. Hello to those who have been reading my blog. Hi REYNA JUSAY! πŸ™‚ go check her out! ;))

Je t’aime mes amis

Always,
NICA β™₯
